From the most ancient times, the Church has honored the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of God, who conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. She was free from original sin and was sinless all her life. At the end of her life she was assumed body and soul into heaven. Because she is the mother of God, the Church venerates her. “For he has regarded the low state of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed” (Lk.1:48). Mary is a model of Faith and Charity, an exemplary realization of the Church to whose protection the faithful fly in dangers and needs. Let us seek her intercession, through the celebration of her feast days, praying the rosary, her litanies and other prayers.
